The Ffrith, Prestatyn, North Wales
The Ffrith is not the only restaurant in Prestatyn that is of the Sizzling pubs range. It is one of few restaurants within reign of a number of caravan parks.
Upon first entering The Ffrith, the rooms are well lit and the furniture is well spaced out so that service staff can move in between tables to reach the customers.
The Ffrith has no que system. You simply find a table, decide what you are going to order then go over to the bar and order your food. This may sound simple enough but finding a table is no easy task due to alot of customers.
Once you have found yourself a table and you know what you want to order you then go over to the bar and order your meal/meals. You may have to wait to be seen as there are few staff on the bar and they have to pour drinks as well as take orders, clean glasses and put others away.
The typical time to be given for waiting for your food is about half an hour. But here expect it to be just a little bit longer. Now without knowing what is going on in the kitchen there are very few serving staff as well. I myself only saw three different people serving food. They were also cleaning tables, collecting dirty plates and cups, replacing utensils and sauces, then dealing with customers looking for tables. Now I went during the summer holidays, this is the highest time of the year for the restaurant so you'd think there would be more staff but there wasn't. I felt really bad for those I did see because they were all running back and forth to get people seated and served. They all looked really tired and warm. However every member of staff I encountered was kind and approachable with friendly smiles on their faces.
The food is worth the wait though. I had a half roast chicken with chips, onion rings and coleslaw. It was cooked perfectly. The chips were light and crispy. The onion rings were crunchy and the chicken was juicy. It was a wonderful dish. For desert I ordered the honeycomb sundae. It was very delicious with a perfect balance between the honeycomb, toffee sauce, ice cream and cream. The only down side was the portion was a tall thin glass, from the picture on the menu I expected a chalice type glass. Also they told me it would be 10 to 15 minutes but I had to wait half an hour for the desert.
Overall on a score system I would give the food a 4 out of 5 and the service a 7 out of 10 so overall a total of 11 out of 15.
I would recommend this restaurant but only to those who don't have much to do that day and if you don't mind the wait.
